The City of West Kelowna’s Information Services Department has an opening for a full time permanent Network Analyst.
Position Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Operates and monitors IT Networks to ensure highest availability to the organization;
  • Ensures that all systems, Interfaces, and programs perform properly, and are within nominal standards;
  • Serves as a liaison with consultants to integrate network related projects into the City IT systems;
  • Recommends network standards, architecture improvements and changes in the performance and use of the City’s computer network;
  • In collaboration with Systems Analyst and Network and Computer Technician, configures and installs routers, switches and related network equipment;
  • Leads projects to upgrade and change the network infrastructure;
  • Updates and tests IT disaster recovery procedures;
  • Documents change control and procedures;
  • Handles day to day administration, monitoring and support of the SCADA system related to Network infrastructure, including devices and field communications infrastructure;
  • Tracks all customer issues and responses in the IT Helpdesk system (Track-IT);
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures for SCADA IT operations (related to the IT network);
  • Sets up and maintains DR processes for the SCADA systems;
  • Designs and implements network security for internal and external networks including IP based phone systems;
  • Installs and tests new emerging software and hardware for the City’s computers, servers, communications network infrastructure, and IP based devices;
  • Diagnose and resolves complex software and hardware problems for the City’s network infrastructure.


Required qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education plus a Bachelor of Computer Science degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A minimum of 5 - 7 years of municipal experience including network management and network security experience;
  • RCMP Reliability Status (Enhanced Security Clearance);
  • Advanced knowledge of local and wide area network technologies, standards and protocols, including the ability to design, configure and troubleshoot complex network routing;
  • CCNP and MCSE certification an asset;
  • IT Security certification;
  • Advanced network security knowledge with Cisco and Meraki appliances, Cisco Umbrella;
  • Experience with Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure;
  • Advanced knowledge of SCADA protocols and data communications;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
